About a month after buying my well used X (182,000 miles when I got it)... it started acting similar...we put in new fuel filter,etc... and they put the clips in...but again started acting up. After a few trips to the shop...looks like it is coming down to that wiring harness, as well ,for me. Part is on it's way, as my truck sits at the shop for them to replace and then we'll see if it's finally fixed.
Reading through this was a big help...just wished I had read it sooner though!
Oh...I'm new here...so Hello everyone! ...got my pics up in my registry but hadn't had a chance to post and intro.
Just want to say I've already found a lot of useful info on here...already have replaced all the door lock actuators myself thanks to info here and other links....thanks everyone!

Welcome aboard there K9 Sometimes the clips pop off or the under valve cover harness starts chafing somewhere causing runability probs.
Have you also ran a fuel additive like Power Service Diesel Kleen,Stanadyne or Marvel Mystery Oil? Using one of those products will clean up the system including the injector tips which can bring back the power and smoothen some issues out

Bill,
Which fuel additive do you use on your 7.3?

Russell,
I recently started using Marvel Mystery Oil as I have used it in the past with my International medium duty trucks with positive outcomes. So far it's running well in the Excursion.
I also use Power Service Diesel Kleen and Lucas Fuel Treatment, both are very good choices as well.

Thanks for the welcome!
The clips had been put on because this one didn't even have them in there...but didn't fix the problem. The wiring loom itself turned out to be the problem...replaced that and now all seems well. (cross my fingers until I run it awhile. )
And I do run an additive for sure. So far been using Power Service Diesel Kleen . Like the results. This is my first diesel so I've been reading up as much as I can on them.
