2001 7.3 PSD

We started the truck on Saturday and it puffed a big white cloud out of the exhaust. We drove it down the road and the smoke continued. It quit after about 2 miles. It is now no longer smoking. I have 98700 miles on the rig. I really hope that I can get this fixed before my warranty expires. Does anyone please have any advice? I know if I take it in their going to say "well its not smoking now"

thanks

Mark

Did the engine do anything else besides the white smoke? Idle roughly,Low Idle,Accelerate rough,Acceleration not as responsive when pressing on the pedal,Unusual engine noise(louder like injectors rattling louder,How's your motor oil level,I could go on and on. Perhaps get a code scanner hooked to the truck to see what it pulls up.

We ran a code scanner last night. It came up p683 the dealership today told me it meant my glow

plug relay was going. They said it has nothing to do with the white smoke. The truck did not run or

really act any different when the white smoke was coming out. I do know my brothers F350 PSD

puffed white smoke when the turbo went out!

The glow plug going bum will cause smoking issues when the truck is cold. When the turbo goes out it'll smoke very well but the engine will run like el crappo.

If you have no other oil/fuel leaks from around the engine I'd say you're good to go Mark. In the future you may have a glow plug go out and when that happens it's a best practice to replace all 8 at once.
