WELCOME to the X-Files!
In regards to an offering price? That's very difficult for us to opine since most of us are not in SoCal. The local market prices determine fair market values. FWIW, I paid $26K for an '05 EB 4WD V10 having 42K miles with every available option except the 2nd-row captain chairs.
What would I offer if I were you? You didn't mention how many miles are on it, but assuming it's around 50K miles, I'd offer $20K and walk away from the haggling when the number goes over $21. But that's just my opinion, and I'm certain others will have theirs, too.
EDIT TO ADD: Have you searched online for Excursion sales in order to get a "feel" for what an '03 is selling for nowadays? eBay often has several X's listed.
Whoa! I just went and looked at a few for sale within 500 miles of SoCal, and I overpriced my estimate a bit. After seeing the other 2003 models listed for sale, I'd offer $18 or $19K tops, and walk away at $20K. |

Landyot,
Thanks for the reply. I did offer $19,100.00 plus tax today and dealer came back with $ 21,900.00 and sad to say i had to pass. The mileage by the way is 45,809.
Hopefully will find the right one at the right price. Would really love to have this baby for my baby girls.
Thanks Again for the reply. Will keep you guys posted with my search.

Does that dealer have your phone number? I've walked away before when I wasn't happy with a deal, and then get a phone call later that same day or the next. Seems like they had a little time to reconsider my offer.
Do you know how long that X has been on their lot? If your dealing took place last week, you may have stood a better chance since it was the end of the month, AND end of the quarter. They would have been happy to get it off their inventory list. If the dealer isn't too far away, you may want to revisit them later this month. If that X is still there, you will find your bargaining power has increased.
I've purchased used vehicles for less than half of the asking price. I go see a car, show real interest in it and compliment its condition. Then I apologize and say that while it's a very nice car, and "somebody" will snap it up soon, it's only worth x-amount to me because of how I intend to use it ... I'll say I only want the drivetrain out of it for another project I'm working on. I give them my phone number in case they change their minds, and leave. Four out of five times, they call me to ask if I still want it at the price I offered.
Edit: HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! |

Thanks for the advice guys. The wife decided that we should instead get the 2007 Expedition EL Limited and currently looking for the right one. This is also the same place where i got my 2006 F-150 and i don't think it even mattered.
I really liked that X but i just can't justify the dealer's price. I even e-mailed the general manager but never got reply.
Will let you guys know of the outcome. Thanks Again. |

Part of me has a hankerin' to get an EL also. I don't tow anymore since I sold the horses and the interior is far superior in every way (except sheer size) over the Excursion. But I love my Ex...
