Thought this subject was worthy of its own thread...
Need your help... having a hard time deciding on which kit is the best to go with:
Goldenfuel system has the advantage by having a custom tank below the undercarriage, alleviating any loss of room in the X's cab.
Frybrid has what seems to be more of an automated system that automatically "purges" the common rail by an auto switch to diesel on start up and shut-down.
Does anyone have any opinions on the better of the two systems beyond the points that I have mentioned above? Any one stand out more in terms of quality and design?
Figure this was the best place to get opinions on something like this...who knows X's better than anyone else?

I went to American Green Fuels, here in Houston, to talk to him about biodiesel and WVO. He installs the Golden Fuels kits and really likes them. He has one on his 04 Duramax and has been using it to run WVO for a couple of years or so now. I was interested in the kit for the X, haven't done it yet, but I agree with you, there are a lot of positives regarding this kit's installation, as well as it is simple, and it seems to be very well heated.

Awesome, man, thanks for the input...the only problem with the Golden Fuel kit is that the closest installation shop is in Utah...the Frybrid just added an installer in Newport Beach (about an hour away), I'm going to call and make a trip out there and see what they got, get a closer look. I like the idea of the automation and the explanation of the inner workings of the Frybrid kit just slightly better than the Golden Fuel.....but I like the idea of the undercarriage tank that comes with the Golden Fuel Kit. Sooo...I'm going to see if they can install a hybrid of the best of both....the kit from Frybrid with an aux tank that can fit underneath the body of the X....or I may just install a combination of my own making, I'm going to see how involved it is, I'll let you know what I decide, should be making a final decision in the next few months....  |
