Does any one know why ford put such crappy cup holders in the front of these kick ass trucks?? Nothing fits in them without falling over and spilling on the carpet. Any one found an alternative cup holder maybe??  |

If your X has the claw style cupholders they are actually the upgrade from the previous 99 cup throwers which were terrible!
Our 99 F250 had the throwers and wasn't worth crap.
Some owners pull out the cupholder assembly and install a CB radio in the vacant space

Which ones? The ones in the dash or the ones in the console? The console ones were redesigned. You can get deeper ones.

Both accually. The ones in the center console are only good for keeping change. The ones in the dash broke the other day so they need to be replaced anyway. What is this about a redisigned cup holder?? What year were they redesigned adn can I still get them from Ford or are they aftermarket?? Thanks |

From what I've read online, the 2000-model had shallow cup holders at the front of the console. They can be swapped out with 2001 and later model pieces. I've never done this swap myself. |

Thanks Ken,our 99.5 F250 SuperDuty 7.3 had the sponge type lips which we swapped out in 2001 soon as our parts counter had them at the dealer. What a difference! Our 02 Excursion has the 2001+ cupholders.
When we get my Excursion project I'll most likely pull the slide out cupholder to install a 2way radio in it's place or some other electronic gizmo
