Just got my truck back from the dealership and they tell me I have 2 EM bolts missing on 1 side and 1 on the other. Said this has been a problem with the engine & Ford. Vehicle is out of warranty etc....I was going to contact Ford direct to see if they might want to get involde in the repairs ($2100). Checked with another service manage who used to work for Ford and he said yes he has heard of this. Anybody else have this problem? Or heard of it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks - Kevin

It's a reasonably common problem on the V10. I think it stems for the fact that Ford omitted the inner splash guard and now all the road crud gets on the engine...namely the exhaust. I can't say they omitted it as it never came on gassers. It was on early PSD equipped trucks but ti went by the wayside due to cost cutting.

You can order up some of the guards. Just do a search over at ford-trucks.com in the V10 forum. I've posted the part number there a few times.

There you'll also find out that $2100 is insane. You could probably replace the studs yourself.
