Mine seem to have lost its reliability.
After th elast couple snow falls is when it was noticed.
I turn the switch and have 4 wheel almost instantly, however it does not stay.
Less then a half mile later I no longer have the fronts locked in. Light is on and all I need to do it turn it off then back on again and have the fronts locked. Only to go out again.
After removing the hubs I noticed there is still a decent about of lube from last years ball joint repair.
As well I am unable to turn the knob at all. they are in Auto as of now, wanted to lock them in but will not turn on either wheel
Last winter 250 mile trip in the winter i had everything working fine.
Questions are this, what would cause this? Leak on the o-rings? Leak on the inside yellow oring? I hope not but I did replace them with new during the ball joint repair.
I did notice that the grease on the outside splines were discolored. "maybe" some moisture leaking in be the outer o-rings is my thought.

What is it to tear these apart? to get the knob to turn freely?
Thanks

To get you through the winter you can liberally spray some WD-40 inside the hub while working the selector (on the hub) back and forth. Spray it down between the housing and the knob. I was able to free up one of mine years ago enough so I could manually lock the hubs for the rest of the winter.

Works in a pinch and come spring you can service your hubs per the link above. It is a great resource!
