That's your first priority. You should not have anything hitting.
| Quote: | | Should i upgrade the leaf springs to the a or b code as suggested? |
Not until priority #1 above is determined. Don't go attempting corrections when you haven't yet identified the problem.
| Quote: | | I want to upgade the suspension. The ride quality is unbearable. their isnt enough suspension travel. i do not want to put a lift kit. is their any other suggestions. if lift kit is suggested, what would be the least lift to help with the problem. |
If you don't want a lift kit, then don't get one. Again, you have a problem with some part bottoming out against another. Until that's resolved, other ideas are kind of moot. It's kind of rare, and I have yet to run across it on an X, but I have seen broken leaf springs on other vehicles. And the breaks were always located very close to the axle. Don't neglect taking a very close look at your leaves immediately above the axle.
| Quote: | | i am considering buying a toy hauler. what would be the largest trailer i can pull? |
That depends on which engine you have. The V10 and diesel should handle trailers up to 10K# or 11K#. If you have the 5.4L gas V8 ... well, I wouldn't consider pulling a large trailer with that motor unless you have a differential gear ratio higher than the basic 3.73:1 ... something like a 4.30:1 would help. |

10-11K total trailer weight. Everything in it; loaded.
Honestly, if you've never towed that much weight you'll find that it is a real PITA. Draggin' 5 tons behind you is no picnic unless maybe you live in the super flat Heartland. The truck will certainly do it but 7-8K is much more "comfortable". You'll need 4.30's behind the V10 to do it legally 3.73's 4x4's are only rated for 9600lbs.

Replaced edelbrock shocks to bilsteins. Drives much better.
Well i took it for a spin and going over some train tracks at about 35-40 mph it bottomed out in the rear still????????
What gives. What should i look for? Are the leafs just in need of replacing? They do not seem to sag the ride height looks ok. |

After looking at the rear leafs, they look to be straight with no arch. Is this how the leafs should be? Should i measure the distance from the axle to the frame and report back here. would this help? |

I'm no help at all for these questions 'cause I've never been under a 2WD model. Sorry. |
