Hi I am going to pick this bad boy up this weekend.
I thought of something as I was reading some back posts.
Are there any recalls, that I need to be sure were done on this vehicle, wiper, flash? NAything that I need to make sure was done?
Thanks
Any help would be appreciated
Hi, I am a new memeber and this is my first post. I am in the process of buying a friend of mine's 2003 Excursion Limited. It has 57k miles and well maintained.
The options it currently has are:
7.3L TD
Borla dual exhaust
Banks stage 1 kit (I am not sure of what that entails yet)
Banks pod guages
Banks Brake system
20'' chrome wheels and tires
Custom lower fascia
Comes with a brand new Borla exhaust system as a spare, and the original tires and wheels that were taken off as soon as he bought it and stored in a climate controlled environment (I was worried about dry rot as they have been sitting but they appear fine)
My question is I am not going to be using this for towing but for recreational trips (beach, fishing etc)
what other modifications would the members and established owners recommend?
thanks,
GO Tarheels!

Dual exhaust as in what? Dual outlets or true duals?
Banks stuff usually entails big bucks. Consensus seems to be that you can get more bang for your buck by using better stuff for less money.
I'd ditch the banks stuff and get a BTS Valve Body and F5 chip to begin with. Also, is that exhaust turbo back? If not, I don't think it matters how large it is since the downpipe will be the restriction.
01 Excursion. Gauges with AIH Delete, AIS Air Filter system, CCV Mod, 4' MBRP, BTS Trans, 6.0L Trans Cooler and Intercooler, DP-Tuner F6 chip, ITP In Tank Mod and Boost Annihilator, Diesel Innovation's Regulated Fuel kit, BTS Big Oil system, GTP38R Turbo with 1.15 A/R housing and BDP Stage II AC injectors. Bilstein Shocks with U code front and A code Rear. Billet thermostat housing |

Sounds like a nice Excursion.
I wouldn't do aanything with it right away. It should be perfect for what you want as it is. Drive it a while and see what you like and don't like before you make any chyanges.
The Banks systems are expensive but very well designed to work together. I wouldn't take it out until you have had a chance to drive it and see how you like it as is.
My 2 cents.

Thanks for the input Aklim,
I don't have all of the paperwork yet (receipts etc.) but I beleive it is the Borla turbo back true dual exhaust (which like I said It will come with a brand new second complete unopened set) and since the stage 1 Banks set is already there I am leaning toward leaving it there and if anything adding to it.. if there is something that will add an enhancement.
Thanks again for the input as I am new to this arena I am going to be relying on those of you who have already gone through this same situation already..

davecarpe, thanks for your 2cents I appreciate it. It is probably good advice since I have only driven it once (although I have been a passenger in it on a couple of trips)
The Banks system looks like it was an OEM -it doesen't stand out, it just looks natural the way it is now.
Since I don't have it in hand yet this is also pretty sound advice, get it and drive it awhile.
I did think of somethig today after I made it into my Garage (without having to fold in any mirrors) is replacing the original sound system (not because it is bad) but I could have used a back up camera
The new full screens in some of the new cars really show you what's back there and I have small kids and dogs.
Anybody know more about the Banks stage 1? What would be the advantages of adding a controller that you could dial up more HP etc. I heard that you could burn out the factory transmission??
Thanks again and keep any positive thought about this rig coming..

Thanks LANDYOT I appreciate the input
I need to get all of the paperwork recipts etc. to check out what actually has been done (check and see if it was a late model 03 with rear sway bar) and then drive it to see what I need to add.
When i drove this rig the other day for the first time it was raining and I did notice that the wipers seemed small.. That will be a no brainer and easty upgrade.
Beleive me if it drives "squirelly" I will be calling to order the radius rods..
Thanks again for the input and the welcome.
