I recently bought a 02 X 5.4 v8 I will be putting lots of mods on it. the suspension is crap and I need 3 lanes to drive. Im goint to put hellwig rear sway, bilstein shocks all around, and hopefully the RRL
Is there is any other suspension mods I can do to make for a smoother ride? I mostly drive in the city not much off road activity. . Also I want to tune up the engine. Granatelli Ignition Wire Set 2000-2003 Ford Excursion did anybody use these, What kind of things should I change in the engine. My main concern is for the truck to run smooth all around and last long as well as get best mpg's Right now I get about 11.6.
Can you suggest a good exhaust air intake combo and what real benefits can I get from it?

The truck has 107k.

At 107K I 'd get new shocks first. Ten I'd progress into springs and bushings if need be.

What tires do you have and what pressures do you run?

If you're all over the road maybe your steering gear is out of adjustment or worn as other steering parts.

Never heard of the Granatelli wires before. Since Triton engines don't have wires it makes me wonder...

Personally, I think you should leave the engine alone. It got the truck to 107K so far don't you want another 107K out of it? No real benefits form an exhaust/intake combo anywhere but up top in the RPM range. I have both on mine and don't really "feel" it until 4K.

I order the bilstein shocks and thats about it for know I will check the tires and pressure over the weekend.
do you know how the hellwig spring helpers will affect the ride? or hellwig air bag spring system?
Im also going to add a front and rear hellwig sway bar hopefully that will make the ride better, i will leave the engine alone it seems to be very clean and im not going to mess with it. I just noticed the truck has a flowmaster muffler pipe installed already.
Thanks for your advise.

Your pressure is waaay too low. You really should be running at least 50 in the front an 60 out back to get a nice firm ride.
