when the air is cool and I let off the throttle I hear a low drowning sound coming from the intake. The only sound I can compare it to would be that of blowing into an empty soda bottle. Sound familiar? |

Is this a PowerStroke Excursion?
If it is it is probably the turbo lowing excess pressure back through the intake when the tubine slows down. It may also do this on the upshift.

Never heard of this.
Have you done anything in or around your intake recently?
Could be a loose, leaky or disconnected hose, bad filter element or a connection is loose for starters.
Of course, it may be a vibration somewhere that just sounds like your description.
Let ask, can you make it make the sound in Park or does it only do when you're moving?

The noise will occur in park as well as in Drive. As I said it only occurs when the temp is below 60, so it is very infrequent outside of Jan-Feb. I have traced it back to the intake. I have a drop in K&N, but noise occured with OEM filter as well. Nothing felt loose when I checked. |

I have no idea.
Since you can replicate it at will it may help if you got a mechanic's stethoscope and tried to trace it to its exact root.
