my fog lights on the 01 are not working , seems sometimes they work and then sometimes they dont, i cannot find a short in the wires so far so am wondering about the pullout switch
i thought i read soemwhere there was a problem with the switch like there is with the power door lock actuaters

I haven't heard of a problem with the switch being similar to the door actuators, but I did have to replace the switch on my '01 when the knob pulled out. The early ones were known for that problem, and haven't heard much from the '04 & '05 crowd. What year is your X?

mine is an 01, not sure where i read that about the switch
will search some other ford truck forums and see what i come up with
how close are the raduis rods to being done landyot? |

In fact, that was the first safety recall for the Excursion; the defective light switch.
Not heard of problems with the fogs though.
I have an extra switch that pulls out for fogs. It is from an 04 Expedition. They're the same but Expeditions have an interior light defeat option that I discovered doesn't work with the Excursion. 
If I can help you out and get you a good deal on a replacement switch I'll be glad to do that as I still have my stock switch.

My 2001 Excursion's light switch's knob is loose. Can I just replace the knob(how?) or the whole unit?
