It has 80,621 miles on it and I bought it from the Ford dealership for $12,997....WHAT!?!?! They are giving these types of trucks away these days.

Took it for a test drive...didn't like the way the brakes felt. The dealer agreed to put new brakes on...I negotiated updated brakes with slotted rotors. While the dealer was underneath the truck doing the brakes, they didn't like the way the shocks looked...so they replaced them all.

Courtesy Ford in Poulsbo, WA...way to go!!!

Last but not least, I changed my filters...specifically my fuel filter and went down and filled the truck up...all 44 gallons worth with B99 biodiesel.

I am happy as a clam right now and wanted to share the joy with other Excursion owners!!!

Congratulations on the new Ex!

I have had mine since it was brand new in 2001 (2002 Model) and never regreted the decision to purchase it for a minute...especially at the 0% financing I got

It's an awesome vehicle. Emminently useful whether it hauling stuff from Lowe's and Home Depot, hauling a full load of people on a trip of vacation or hauling a load of furniture and a trailer so you don't need a moving truck. Mine has been absolutely wonderful, with the one exception of Crankshaft Position Sensor, which took me too long to figure out

I just replaced the stero in mine and have better tunes than ever that makes it all that more fun to drive. The only thing I would rather drive is my Porsche but that's just for play not doing anything useful.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine

I, too, am a new Ex owner. '01 7.3L Ltd......33K miles on it. $15999.00. My diesel guy now has it in his shop....says it's in great shape and is going to throw on some add-ons (chip kit, intake, etc.).

davecarpe, I thought the CPS was a recall item to be replaced @ no charge. Am I mistaken? I was going to take my rig to a dealer for such a replacement when I got it back. Have to go there anyway as I only have one key (keying is expensive!!!).

I'm now trying to figure out what to do with the rear suspension as I pull a 7500# travel trailer.....everyone seems to have a different idea about this so it may be a crapshoot. I understand that the Ex is notorious for a soft rear suspension.

Where are you guys finding all these low mileage Excursions. It seems I can only find high mileage. I think it must be a Texas thing.

Congrats on the new ride!

There are a few modifactions that are worth doing.

#1. Remove the dash mounted cup holders and put in 2003 ones. The newer design is way better than the previous ones and you no longer have to hold the tops of large cups when going around corners.

#2. Remove the center mounted cup holder and put in 2003 ones. Same reason as number 1 they are deeper and hold cups better.

#3. Replace the rear shocks with 4x2 shocks. They are built to go an extra two inches higher.

All the above are available right from Ford.

BTW, my X has 205K miles and nothing has been done to the motor or tranny.
