I drove my new vehicular last night for the first time for a distance farther than two blocks and I have to say I loved it. It was a smooth ride and it had alot of power. I had a hard time keeping myself under 75mph (in a 65 zone).
The thing I was MOST impressed with was the onboard computer thing...If thats what its called, the little thing in the overhead that tells you the temperature outside, the direction you are driving, etc. I had one of these in my old explorer but it only did direction and temperature.
Well the part I fell in love with in the Excursion was the option that told me how many miles I had left to drive before I ran out of gas! Also to a lesser extent the average miles per gallon!
I'm easily pleased...
Also once I found a gas station to fuel up I was at about 8 miles left before empty according to the thing on the computer and I put in $50 worth of gas at $3.68 and ende up with this, which I was NOT expecting ONLY ¼ TANK. I dont think I've ever payed so much and ended up with so little to show for it:

We are six days into our eight day vacation here in Colorado. I am loving the range of the 44 gallon tank but hating the cost of filling it. Gas here is $4.53 for 87 octane here in the Carbondale/Glenwood Springs area. I drove my 01 V10 and trailered my other lifted 02 V10 for fishing and mountain trails. By the time we get back home to Kansas City we will have spent almost $1300 on fuel alone with all the adventure driving and such. I love the Excursions and did not buy them for the gas milage but I wish it just didn't hurt so bad. |

WELCOME to the X-Files!
My last three fill-ups were in the $140 to $145 range ... which only bought me about 36 or 37 gallons. |

I have the deisel modol, (7.3) and I love the fact that it has a 45 gallon tank, because I can travel 750+miles with out having to worry about stopping for fuel, and if Im on the highway, then that number goes up to 900+ miles, that means that I could fill up in texas and go to florida and still be driving on Texas fuel.. fill ups are 200+ every time, and the miles to empty I can get that down to 1 mile to empty and still drive it.. so its really great...
It really is all about size!!!!!! |

I find the fuel gauge in all the Excursion to be not so linear. They fall quickly from full and then stay in the middle & lower ranges longer than one would expect. (Just my observation ;) )
If yours was so low and you only put 13 or so gallons in it, then I can see why it only went to 1/4 tank. Theoretically each 1/4 tank mark is 11 gallons.

I'm just not not used to spending $50 and getting so little gas yet! |
