Hello folks this is my first thread here on this forum and first I'd like to introduce myself before asking some questions here. My name is Dustin and I personally have always loved Ford trucks since the wind of Bigfoot and through out that time I've owned a pretty much stock 02 Ford F-250 (V 4WD and recently sold it off.
Now I'm a proud new owner of an 01 Excursion Limited 4WD V10 (always wanted one). My question is how would I go about updating my front face (Grille, Bumper, Lights) to an 05 Model Excursion? I for one assume that the parts are interchangeable? or I may need some hardware/brackets or other parts or modifications to do this change over? Would any here happen to know exactly what'd I need before going out and purchasing an 05 Grille, Bumper, & Head-Lights? I greatful & thankful for all help & information provided. I'm already in the works of soon getting me a set of LANDYOT Radius Rods (The way I found this great forum) after reading about em while stumblin upon them via Google. |

Welcome Dustin!
Do a search for subscriber Monsta... He's an islander too... and I don't mean a hockey player!! To do a 2005 front end swap on your 01, you'll need to swap the front header panel. Plus some other stuff... google for lots of info.
There are sites out there that sell all the parts needed. if I find some time, I'll try to find one... I have it somewhere!!

Hey Dustin! Another Big Islander! I live in Waikoloa (currently).
It's not hard a job. It just takes all the pieces. Header panel being the key, although I've heard of guys just modifiying their own. if you check out the forums over at ford-trucks.com, there is a number of threads about it. If you look at the Tech folder anchored on top of the Super Duty forum there is a direct link the all you need to know.
Towards the bottom of the Palisades on the right side (going down) there's a big, lifted F350 with 20+'s and low-ish profile tires. Have you seem it? That truck is an 03 or 04. He did the swap. Pretty cool truck.
Another thing you can do is just get a modified 05 grill off eBay. They look pretty good with the old style bumper.
Where'd you get your truck?

This would also gimme an idea of what things would cost, especially if they got a kit that I could purchase and then just buy the grille, bumper, headlights afterwards being I'd already have the kit. |

Where'd you get your truck? | Monsta I sent ya an email some week or so back regarding your add-a-leaf but didn't get a reply so I take it your email address changed maybe. I was actually on the stretch heading toward Waikola or maybe passed Waikola Village when I could have swarn I passed an Excursion that look quite like yours and what really set it off was them OEM SD 20's. I know I didn't ever see this Excursion in the Kona area and it did stand out from all others I've seen when I passed it and I'm pretty sure it was you after seeing pics of your Excursion here on this site. As for that truck on Palisades is it a real large white dually and Semi Tractor Truck Super Singles at the fronts and standard Big Rig tires at the rear? it's about the biggest Ford I can think of at the near buttom of Palisades to my right side when driving downwards.
As for just pop'n an 05 Grille on...well I really wanna do a (complete) overhaul with 05 bumper, Grille, & headlights. I know your or 71-4R3SONS has to have a site with everything I'd need or some part numbers of all that I'd need? I seem to be falling short while googling as I've tried googling this in the pass and came up with nothing.
Oh and our Excursion is originally from Cali but we've bout had it for maybe 4 months now here on the Island, our truck was also from Cali. |

I'm the only Excursion with OEM 20's on the island (that I know of and I pretty much know all the Excursion here ) Another guy in Hilo has the 08 mirrors like I do.
I created a thread over at ford-trucks.com asking for help. Check it out. http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/813958-anybody-got-a-link-for-a-kit-to-swap-to-an-05-front-end.html#post7043789 Yeah, I guess maybe I should check my email link. Feel free to email me at clean.better @ gmail.com We should meet up some time and talk Excursions! If you want my add-a-leafs you can have them. I just pulled them off and put on RoadMaster Active Suspension.

I did some searching in my "Favs" and found this:
http://www.dfuser.com/mfg/powerstroke/73/Accessories/lighting.php This link shows the header panel part I spoke of earlier. I see the thread Ken started at the other site has a reply posted naming DFuser as the site that had the "kit". That must be that same place I thought I saw it too... and why I put it in my "Favs". I did some searching and found that with the header unit installed on a pre 05 Excursion you'd be able to bolt on 05-07 SD or 05 Excursion front end parts without any special mods to your Excursion.

Ahhh!!! you 2 are awesome. I was able to get ahold of the guy there and I guess this header panel is a regular Ford Part and he mentioned to me that being I'm down here in HI it'd be cheaper & best to just go to the Ford Dealer and pick one up. My biggest thing was the cost I was gonna be looking at to do the front face lift which doesn't look too bad at all but currently I'm bit low on funds as I just purchased some OEM 08 SD wheels for our Exc, along with some hubcentric spacers to get em bolted up, as well as the Gen 4? I believe it was Land Yot Radius Rod kit.
I gotta get a set of brakes and some tires to go with the new wheels so this face lift will be on hold for a bit till I can re-cope what I spent so far for our Exc.
BTW does every member here on the board get a photogallery area to post pics? That way I can tos up a few pics of our Exc when we first got it or should I say (The Sellers Pics) LOL.
BTW Monsta Many Thanks for the posting of your thread on the ford-truck forum, really appreciate it and you both were a big help with the provided info. I can now say I now know where I stand in doing the 05 face lift.

Which wheels did you get? The 8-spoke like mine? If so, you realize you have to put a sticker on your truck that says "I copied Monsta's truck, who in turn copied Bob's and high1's"! You got hub centric spacers from wheeladapters.com right? Don't skimp.

LOL LOL LOL, naw I actually got the 18's with the rounded off rectangular shaped slots. I wanted to get these on the Exc since I seen em. I was able to come across em at a good price IMO so I had to get em while I could. They were (New Take Off's) from a Ford SD at a Ford dealer but ofcourse due to mild test drives it dues have some really minor lite surface scratches & scuff's on em but far from noticeable unless you're up against the wheels.
Now as for adaptors I figured Fred's place was quite a bit expansive and his was milled in steel (The cheapest ones he was selling) and the other was Alcoa 6061 Billet aluminum (The more costly ones he sells). Knowing the steel is heavier and the alum is lighter I figured I'd just grab them cheaper ones off the bay. But hey if it was to somehow fail in any way then Fred will be getting a call from me. heh |
