Hello all, I just purchased an 02 with the V-10.
Here is the situation I encountered, when I lock the doors with the remote all is fine but if I hit the lock button a second time the horn sounds and the lights give a flash (as expected) then as I turn to walk away the engine fires (runs ruff) for a few seconds, then shuts off and will re-start. This will continue until I get the door open and install the key in the ignition and follow through with going to the start position then shutting off.
I done a quick look and can not see any aftermarket products attached.
I have no way of contacting the previous owner to ask any questions.
Going in for state inspection in a couple days, will have them take a look then.
Just thought I would pick your brains.

There has to be an old remote start or parts of one installed. No way any stock electrical snafu could create that condition.

That is what I thought, nothing obvious to spot. Was hopeful someone here might have a remote start system and would give me a clue where to look.
Now if it drops in gear and takes off, I am running for cover.

Found the remote starter, what a mess.
Some how when the horn was to blow (in the panic mode) the remote starter would engage inplace of the horn blowing.
Someone sure did screw up that install.
Everything working fine now.

I know this is an older thread but figured I'd reply for anyone needing help. I've been installing for about 19 years and own a mobile electronics business in Kansas City and am also contracted by Ford to install their accessories.

The system on your truck is an add-on starter for the OEM keyless. They grab the lock or unlock pulse to start. Depending on the setup you hit lock two or three times or some even ask to hit lock, unlock, lock.

The issue with it starting, stopping and then restarting is due to the Rachel signal needing to be reprogrammed to the system.
