My dome and door lights stay on, i believe it could be the door ajar switch for the rear hatch because i have the am power steps and if it was the side doors the steps would stay open. My question is, where is the rear door ajar switch? Or anyone else had a similar problem? the lights go off after i start driving and go over 30. |

I believe it is in the multi pin switch on the pillar.
A little emery cloth on the end of each pin and the contact plate should clean it right up.
Make sure the pins are not stuck 'in'
As well as making sure the barn doors are fully shut as well.
I have had this happen about three years ago, cleaned it as described and no issues since.
Good thing about the dome light though, since it is on a time delay it shuts off and will not kill your battery |

The rear barn doors have no sensors or anything electrical attached to them nor activated by them. There are no contact switches in the door jambs. The liftgate has two door-jar switches ... one on each side. Of all the door-ajar switches on the X, these are the easiest to access. Unscew the interior pull-handle, then simply pry the bottom interior trim panel off the liftgate.
I replaced the older style door-ajar switches on my '01 with newer ones, but many folks have had success with doing nothing more than spraying/flooding the switches with WD40. I haven't had this problem with my '05. |
