I have always wanted an Excursion and I could never talk my wife into it. Well, they have come way down in price and I am thinking I must have one!
I want it for hunting, hauling a cattle trailer some, etc. Me, the kids, hunting gear, 4wd, etc. It will not be a daily driver.
If I need to haul big - I have a Dodge 3500 with a diesel in it. I am leaning towards a 2000 4wd limited with the V-10. I found one with 169K miles on it. 1 owner for $6300
I had a 2001 F-250 with the 7.3 and had numerous issues with it. I am thinking V-10 should be pretty solid and do what I need without the added expense.
Comments, recommendations, etc?
Thanks,
D.

I was checking this morning and found a 2002 Excursion Limited 4wd with the 7.3 with 189K miles on it for $9900. I am going to go look at it this afternoon. New tires, shocks, and relays for the glow plugs. I guess go check the usual stuff on it. Price seems inline.
I wonder if the trans has been replaced. Engine should be good for a while longer for sure. D.

My advise is take your time. Took me over a year to find mine.
First post on the forum but I've been lurking since last fall when I purchased my 04 V10 Limited with 75,000 mi. Always had Suburbans but every time an Ex would pull up next to me I would sink into my seat with Excursion envy. By chance while driving by a car lot (when gas was over $4/gal), I saw the black limited sitting way in the back. Could the price of $9,995 be correct? The salesman approached and I said you would be lucky to get $7,500 for this gas guzzling tank. He replied they lowered the price a few times and the owner wanted to move it and was willing to take an offer. I said tell him $7,500, after all it needed tires (I had a brand new set of Michilens). Anyways I ended up paying $8,650. Now it's my turn to snicker when I pull next to those Suburbans.
Great forum guys with so much valuable information. Luckily I haven't had to use any of it,,,,yet. |

If it's in good shape, sounds like a deal to me. As years pass it will be increasingly difficult to find something decent so if it's in nice shape, pull the trigger. Book on a 2005 Limited up here is around $18K. Acually book values went up since the gas went down. |

It looks good in the pics. It is in another State. A buddy of mine is going to look at it on TH.
It only has one set of keys, no manuals, and no headphones for the entertainment system. Small stuff - but I would want to get all that. D.
