Ok, I went to put the X into 4 wheel drive the other day and notta. So, I took it into Ford and they did their trouble shooting and they came back to me saying the entire wiring harness inside the engine compartment down to under the car needs to be replaced. With labor and the part and the trouble shooting it is going to be a $511 bill. I was kind of surprised it was the wiring harness, and he told me I am the 6th truck this year that they have had to replace the wiring harness for the 4 wheel drive portion. I guess the connectors get all crapped up and then eventually just go out. Anyone else had this problem? I have to wait till next week for them to get the wiring harness in.

I had similar problem and replaced the rubber vacumn hoses going to the hub with braided steel lines. Very simple replacement. You can get the hoses on line or get them from a company that builds hydraulic hoses in your area a lot cheaper.
