Hey guys heres my first post (didnt find a complete procedure for this so hope this is not a duplicate)
I replaced the front factory sway bar end links with Ford OEM bars/ bushing assy (the ones that hang "down" from the frame and connect to the front sway bar). Time required : 30 minutes per side
Tools required
=============
1. 18 mm socket / ratchet
2. 15mm wrench
3. WD40
Parts (for 2000 Excursion 4x4
=======================
1 x Ford 1C3Z-5k483-BA link (mine were $69.64 Can $) 1 x Ford 1C3Z-5k483-BB link (mine were $63.60 Can $)
Procedure
=============
1. Spray the mounting bolts with wd40 and let soak in for 5 minutes.
2. Using an 18mm socket on outboard side, and 15mm wrench on inboard loosen the mounting bolts upper, and lower
3. remove the worn link assembly
4. install the replacement link in reverse order.
Tips
=======
1. If you can wedge the wrench on the inboard side, it helps to loosen the outboard bolt.
2. Stick some anti-seize on the bolts before replacing.
3.It is NOT necessary to raise the vehicle (or block the sway bars) for this procedure, unless you can't fit under !
Hope this helps !!! Regards Rob (New 2000 Excursion XLT 4x4 owner)
