Has anyone heard about a problem with 2000 X's, v10 models, and blowing the spark plug out (and thereby causing the coil to break?) I had this happen recently, and the dealer made no mention of it being a problem with the X's, but I just saw a discussion on the old fordexcursion.com website talking about the exact same thing that happened to me.

Yes it happens.

Visist the V10 forum at www.ford-trucks.com. It has been discussed many times.

Sorry for the back luck.

hmmmm, I see he moved to "The Big Island", sounds nice!!!

Anyway, I haven't found any info on the other groups about the spark plug problem, does anyone know where I can find out more about that problem?

Yes, Nick. I moved!

Actually my wife and kids are still in Gardner until June 3rd. Then we will all be here on the Big Island of Hawaii.

I know that there is a lot of info on the sparkplug issue at ford-trucks.com. I mean lots. However...none of it has a magic bullet to prevent blowouts other than replacement of plugs prior to the 100K and to include sparkplug torque-down in a regular maintentance schedule. Say maybe ever 30K

83° Light trade winds. Surf on the West side (Kona side) was 2-4 feet. Just another perfect day.

Sounds nice. Just an FYI for you now on the Boston weather: "The Usual", partly sunny, partly cloudy, some rain - some sun, cold this morning, hazy, muggy and humid. Another unpredictable NE day.
