I will be installing a set of Rockford components in my 00 X. I need some suggestions of where anyone else has installed their component tweeters. I recently sold my SuperCrew and those were mounted near the door handle, but that is not a option in the X. So, any help would be appreciated.

I installed my Infinity's on the door sail (where the mirror bolts are). It pulls straight out with some effort. I like the positioning as it directs the high toward the driver/passenger. Came out so well I'm considering adding another pair for the second seat.

Hey All,
I too want to install some tweeters "up top" - does anyone have any helpful hints (besides getting someone else to do it...) on taking a front door kick panel off so I can access the existing door speaker, run a wire up high and close it up?

There is a tech section in this group or in the superford group that shows how to remove the front door panel. I think there are only a few screws...One under the door lock panel that just snaps out...One under the lamp in the bottom..then just lift up NOT out. Someone else might know exactly where they are though.

Wes, to take the door panels off just pull upwards on the door lock/window roll-up panel at the front nearest the hood. Once that is removed there should be a 7mm screw in the upper rear section of the hole just exposed. The second screw is behind the reflector at the bottom of the door, use a flat blade to pry off the reflector, and behind it is another 7mm screw. Then just lift up on the door and off she comes. Don't forget do give a quarter turn to the light that was behind the reflector you just removed. The rear door panels are almost identical. If I remember correctly the screws for the speakers, they should be a 1/4"(from memory). Good luck. I will post pics of my Rockford tweeter install within the week.

Rick,
Thanks for the instructions. I have some out of town work to do next week so I can't do anything until I return, then I'll hit 'er hard...

Thanks again

Wes
