Hello all,
My wife and I are looking into buying a 00' X. We have it for the weekend to test. We put fuel in last night and everything went fine. However, we put gas in it again today and went to start it and nothing happened. the electric worked fine and all. We sat in for about 15 min, goofed around with the doors, shifter, gas cap, etc. then it just started. Just try and figure out the problem I turned it of and it started right up again. I then shut is off and took the cap off again thene re-installed it and now it wont start... any ideas? |

Hey there. Castle Rock. Love that area. Spent a few months there with some family when I was younger. A couple years ago I took my family for two weeks in Carbondale. Nothing like a V10 Excursion doing a top speed of 32 mph at the top of Mt. Evans...lol
When you say it's not starting I might suggest looking at the security light on the instrument cluster when you're trying to start it. Look and see if this light is flashing quickly. I say this because the PATS coded key system on that truck might be having an issue. My 2001 Excursion very occasionally acts like it doesn't want to take my key. It's only happened a couple times in the past six years but might be something to take notice of. That's the only thing I could think of that would keep the truck from cranking but turning all electrical on. I'm thinking the gas cap might be coincidence.
Another idea is does this truck have an alarm on it? The OEM ford alarm with disable the starter wire after about 30 seconds. You then have to hit unlock to be able to start the truck. |

where did you buy your gas cap? i just in need a toyota corolla gas cap then for my ford i need headlight bulb. did you bring it to the shop? thanks for any response.  |
