I just purchased my first Excursion and found this great site. I have found answers to several questions I had, thx. I do have a question regarding fuel economy. I didnt buy my Excursion to tow anything (yet) or to haul the kids off camping, I got it cause it is one BIG, BAD looking and driving vehicle. Anyways I want to know if there is any way to improve on the fuel milage. Its a 2002 Limited V10, I get about 11 mpg. Any input would be appreciated. Also, I plan on upgrading the exhaust and tires in the near future, anyone have any recommendations?

Welcome Jeremy. Yes the trucks are bad, and gas are bad on the mpg. Fill your tires up to recomended presures. Keep your moter under 2000 rpms, if possible. The best gas mileage is from leaving the truck parked....Well that ain't happening so just go easy on the go-go pedal. Your truck weighs around 7700lbs, and a lot of gas is required to move that much weight.

Jeremy, welcome. Glad you found us.
I get about the same mileage, 11-12 (last tank - 12.2 hand calculated in mixed driving). Monsta (Ken) gets better than average mileage. Maybe he will shine some light on us. As birdman said, these things are heavy and aerodynamically challenged. Mileage is not our strong suit. But I sure love my X. The only thing I would trade it for is a diesel X. I must admit to having PSD envy
