What is a "Track Bar"? Is this the front sway bar? I haven't heard my clunk in a very long time, but I also don't park where I used to at home which was on a twisty hill. Seemed to clunk more when I parked there, so this shifting thing makes sense.
If the Sway/Track bar is the culprit, I will be under mine soon and will investigate to loosen and insert a shim (Plastic from a bucket is a great idea) there as well. Just want to make sure I am looking at the right thing! |

Generally a track bar is used in high torque applications, a set of bars are put in place that slap up against the frame when the rearend is given high torque, they are to prevent axle wrap. But in this case it is called a sway bar, but some people call them a track bar, so what ever you feel like calling them. |

To correct you....The track bar on the Ex is used to keep the front axle in line with the rear axle. The sway bars are used to help reduce body roll and assist in load handling...what you are referring to are traction bars, ladder bars, radius arms...ect....those keep the rear axle from wrapping.

I had the end links on the front sway bar replaced yesterday, and the clunking is gone.
They were about $60 apiece. One end of the link has the bolt and some sort of ball joint. On my old links, this bolt was very sloppy in the ball joint. The new ones had no play. I have 78k miles, don't do any off-road, but do tow a 10k pound trailer. So not sure why they wore out, but real happy that the noise is gone.
