Has anyone out there ever replaced a front door power lock actuator? I was told that this is a very involved procedure and that it would be best if I paid the $100.00 to heve the dealer do it. Can anyone shed some light as to what the remove and replace procedure is?
Thanks in advance

I can't be of any help. $100 doesn't sound too bad. I'd probably let him do it.

Funny that this is happening. I have an extended warranty that just covered the actuator. The back one went out and when my wife took it to the shop 2 more would not work and they were replaced as well. I also had the drivers side heated seat go out and they replaced it as well.

There are a lot of postings here and elsewhere about the actuators going bad. Sounds like a good candidate for a recall. Three of mine went bad within a week of each other but fortunately I was under warranty.
It's not a bad install (I've done a Super Duty--same thing) but you need patience and a good light.

mine went out a few weeks ago.it had never failed at all .i know what triggered it,perhaps a coincidece but maybe what messed it up. i was walking toward car. it was locked. i going to depress the unlock button on the keyless handheld keychain. my other hand got ahead of what i was doing so as i was lifting the door handle to open at about the halfway point i then pressed the keychain to unlock it. i actually felt the click in the handle as i was pulling the handle out.it was snafud at that point and i had to use the key to unlock it. it works bery intermittent know maybe 20% of the time. took to dealer and it was covered under ext warr and they put new one in and it was defective as well so they sent me home with bad one an i havent had time to go back. |
