Ive got a loud clicking noise coming from just under passenger side valve cover on my 351w motor. Any ideas on what is producing this stress inducing sound would be greatly appreciated before i have to rip it apart.

How many miles on the motor?

Does it burn oil?

Do you keep the oil at proper level...does it happen when the oil is at the proper level?

Pull the valve cover and see if you see anything obvious like sludge or something blocking oil from entering the valve cover. This is the simplest/quickest thing to do before tearing the motor apart.
