Had to hammer a divot in the crossmember to clear the cast torque arm mounts on the extension housing. The crossmember is 1/8" thick so it took a bit of heat and a big hammer to get that much deformation. I painted it to keep out the rust.

this is my $300 truck I picked up when I went to deliver a Fairmont Z7. it 1986 F150 with 351W H.O/C6. the engine compartment was not touch be the fire.

I had to pull the complete intake system and swap out the truck pan for fox body pan/pick up tube. so the block got painted.

by midnight,I have the new pickup tube. clean the bottom end and install the fox 351W oil pan on. the engine off the stand & tranny hooked back up to the block. clean shop bay and push the wagon in.
at 12:30 pm(this photo) installing complete engine...

she now has 8.8 2.75 traction lock rear with 10 drum brakes and big 1993 cobra sway bar out back.
the front has the1993 stang front sway bar and 11' from rotors with lincoln calipers .

Both headers welded to their flanges and the ports ground smooth. I still need to grind the flanges perfectly smooth and maybe grind down the welds a bit.

All the tubes have been squared and hammered back into plane and alignment. It matches the flange sitting on it.

I drilled and tapped a 1"x3"x24" piece of cold rolled steel to bolt the flange to while welding. It really worked. The flange was about 1/8" warped just from tacking but it was very flat after getting fully welded.

Cutting the old header flanges off the headers. The weld penetration wasn't consistent so the surface wasn't very flat. It took a bit of grinding to get them in plane.
