Hi,
This afternoon at about 4:00 PM CST a bad query in the SuperFord.org database was run that caused several member and registered user photos to be accidentally deleted from the server. Registered users and members accounts that were affected already received an e-mail with regards to this.
We are extremely sorry and equally embarrassed that this happened. We make every attempt possible to run a professional service without any hitches, but this is one of the unfortunate times when a pretty bad mistake was made and can't be undone. We were pruning the database that holds all media files so that any abandoned pictures, sounds, or movies (that were for one reason or another not linked to a section) were deleted. Due to an error in the deletion query, there were several files deleted that were not supposed to have been.
Unfortunately, due to the size of the media table and the fact that the server is just not setup to maintain real-time backups of the media, these deleted photos, sounds, and movies are gone for good.
What now?
Yearly members affected by this will receive a couple free SuperFord.org stickers in the mail -- stickers will be sent out in the next couple days. If we do not have your address on file, we will be contacting you shortly for it.
As a registered user to SuperFord.org, we'll be enabling membership-only features for you through the month of August to express our apologies and so that you can take advantage of the multiple file upload feature for when you restore your photos/files in your registry entry. There is nothing we hate more than being completely helpless and unable to fix a problem that we caused.
For some of you, this is not as big of a deal because you only had a couple photos. For others, this will be a painstaking process to re-post dozens or perhaps even hundreds of photos. I myself lost several hundred photos from my registry entry -- so yes, even the SuperFord.org owners were hit by this mistake!
I hope you can accept our apologies. If you have any questions, comments, or would like to blow off some steam in regards to this issue, please direct them to my personal e-mail address at: erlong@superford.org or by replying to this message.
Thank you for using SuperFord.org and again, we are very sorry for the loss of your media files.
Sincerely,
-Eric

Sad, but apologies accepted fully. I suppose it was about time I posted different pictures.
My only question is....... Why is it still showing that I have 749 photos? And when I click on: other members in this club ( 2 Big Broncos) the only listing that comes up is my own?
Thanks,
Anne

Hi folks,
We will be going into hiding after this embarrassing error.
The picture count is still off but we'll fix it this week(end). The reason why we haven't fixed it yet is because it's the only way for us to tell who had their pictures/sounds/videos accidentally deleted.
I lost about 500 pictures and 20 or so videos.
Thank you to everyone who has been so understanding via e-mail and the forums. Someday we will be able to afford a server that has enough capacity to keep complete backups of even people's files.
-Eric

Hello Eric.
I am not normally a paying memeber so I will take this oppertunity now while I can to make an apology to you. In the past I bashed the site when various policies changed etc regarding uploading and what is allowed. I was out of my head to do something that stupid. You have an excellent site that is free. So sorry!

My entire Mustang file is gone with about 700 pics that I don't have duplicates of. Vacation pics, car meets, all gone. |

I needed to weed out my pics anyhow. Thanks for the honest explanation Eric. You do good work here... I figure if a person doesn't make mistakes they probably aren't doing anything. |
