Our 1977 to 1979 Ranchero vacuum page has a scanned Ford routing diagram for the 351M, for calibrations 9-71J-R10 and 7-72J-R11. To be plain about it, that is not the 9-59J you found, and California cars often differ, so treat it as a close guide rather than an exact match. It shows how Ford laid out the carburetor, manifold and ported vacuum switch connections on this engine, which is most of the battle when you are starting from a tangle of loose hoses.

Two things help pin down your exact setup. The calibration code is on a label on the engine (usually on a valve cover or the front of the block area), and the underhood emissions decal on many cars of this era carries its own hose diagram if it is still there. If you can post the calibration from the label, it is much easier to say how close the diagram above is.
