Call your local police department's fleet manager and contact your state's transportation department and speak to who ever is in charge of state vehicles. They can tell you when there are auctions of their vehicles.

You should also check out government auctions. They sell fully loaded Police Interceptors that are in pristine condition. Most goverment agencies sell their cars every 2 or 3 years regardless of mileage. So you could end up like me, with a pampered, non-police abused P71.

try your local area on autotrader.com as well as auctions!! Especially if you are looking to buy an ex-police car!! Most auctions will not let you drive the vehicle, and even fewer are open to the general public. What I saw at auctions were not too good....almost all needed AT LEAST suspension work(upper/lower control arm/ball joint/bushings, quite costly), but this is South Florida, what should I expect, huh? hehe
You may be lucky enough to find trade-ins from smaller departments at local dealers, big and small. Where I got my Interceptor, I had the choice of two DARE units, which are generally less abused - even better so if they are K-9 units, since most of the interior that was removed at one time is replaced (back seat for one!) with tear-free leather.
If you still want to try an auction, hook up with a dealer friend, or offer a small dealer a commission if he/she can hook you up at the auction...most of the owners of the "mom & pop" dealers send one of their own "buyers" out of whom you may be able to "bribe" for the extra money to pick up the car for you on the side when they go to auction. You may also find people in the area offering this service who have auction licenses in the local classified and auto advertisements in your area.
Ebay has shown some promise lately, too....Good luck!
