I have a 98' P71 interceptor,im' trying to get the axel ratio on it I have the ford cd-rom the ford service dept. uses and it states that a #4 on the door tag is 3:27,the build date on the car is 5/98 and the tag has an X5 axle code, does anybody know if this was carried over into the 99' build codes? anyway if anyone out there can give me the specs for axle code X5. many thanks

More than likely you have an open differential with 3.27s. That is what I had in my '98 P71 even though my sticker also had the X5 code.

Crawl underneath and look at the rear axle. There should be a stamped tag attached to one of the bolts for the differential cover. It will tell you your gears. If there is an "L" stamped on it, then you have a locking differential.
