Another Grand Marquis War Story
One recent Friday afternoon I was casually driving my 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis on one of the main streets in my neighborhood when I was approached by a 2003 Toyota Matrix. It was the typical ricer, fully equipped for speed with tons of stickers, gauges, pods, and of course - the coffee can exhaust. We approached an intersection and as luck might have it, the light turned red. The two guys in the Matrix where eyeballing me, daring me to put my 4000lb giant against their lighter and supposedly faster import. Fast & the Furious? No, it was more like Not Fast-Just Curious. As if by instinct, I held the brake and slowly eased on the accelerator. As beautiful white smoke began to fill the air around both of our cars the light turned green and I let off the brake. They stared in awe as I pulled away from the light leaving them mercilessly behind. They didn't honestly think that a car this big had anything less than a V8 right?
