I recently put the Marauder airbox on my 2003 CV LX Sport. I read that you shouldn't use the 80 mm MAF unless you have a chip to tune the motor for the input from the new MAF...and that using the 80mm MAF without the upgraded chip will cause a lean condition under WOT. With that said, I replaced the 80mm MAF on the Maruader airbox with the stock CV 70mm MAF. After driving just a short time (> 1 hour), I got a "Check Engine" light. Did I peg out the 70mm MAF and cause the computer to think that there was a problem? What can I do? I really don't want the chip upgrade. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Darron |

What did you do with the IAT sensor that plugs into the side of a stock CV airbox lid?
There is no hole for it on the Marauder's airbox lid since the IAT sensor is integrated into the Marauder MAF.

There was no extra sensor and there doesn't appear to be any extra plug-in ports on the airbox. Where would it be? Thanks for your response to my call for help! |

I posted your question over on www.crownvic.net and these are the responses I have received so far:
I am not sure about the IAT, but that would explain it. Keeping his factory MAF whilst changine the Airbox did not help matters. The MAFs are matched to the respective airbox they go to (transfer function). Messing with the airbox lid, MAF, and in some cases even the "Zip Tube" can casue the MAF to read differently than it should.
I'd pull the codes and see what you get first.
And:
"FYI: The MAFs are calibrated with the airbox as an assembly."

Thanks for the info..just want to clarify that there is no IAT sensor on my stock 2003 CV airbox...maybe it is also incorporated into the stock CV MAF. |
