I am told my 1993 Marquis has computer problemsand the computer will need to be replaced.
I is to run between 600-1100 that is a wide range. So my questions are:

What is the actual part name? Is it really the computer?

Are there after market ones available that are cheaper?

Can I go the the salvage yard and find one?

Is it programed for each car or each model and is it preprogramed or does if have to be done when installed?

and Last

How hard is it to install (my level of mechanical skill is ok as long as I know what the problem part is it is my troubleshooting skills that need the real work)?


I saw few threads relating to the computer but was not sure if I understood things rights. Thanks for your help.
