Hey guys! Yeah I'm a Merc nut. Love my 87 Grand Marquis. Looking for information on the Marquis car. Or the history of the Marquis line until modern Marquis. I'd love info on how the Marquis' have changed as years have passed. Any info or helpful web pages? Let me know. I'm interested in books or anything. Any and ALL information is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys! |

Welcome.
Most of my knowledge is focused on the '92 and up Vics/Grand Marquis.
You might want to check out this forum on CVN:

It is for the "box body" Mercs/and Vics.
Hope this helps.

Hey man thanks. That's a great site for technical stuff. I'm enjoying it very much.
However I am still looking for info you guys. Technical or not, remember it can be history or other kinda off the wall things. Mercs rule! |

I don't quite know what information you're looking for, but here goes: The Marquis name started off in '67 as a top-of-the-line HTP Cpe. Standard engine was the FE 410. The FE 428 was optional. For '68 the 410 was dropped, and the 390-4v became standard, with 428 optional.
For '69 the Marquis name replaced the Park Lane line. The only engine available was the new 385-series 429-4v. Marquis stayed as Mercury's most luxurious fullsize car until '75 when all the fullsize Mercs got the name. In the early '80s, the name was moved to the Fox platform, and the fullsize became Grand Marquis.
Hope this helps! |

Linny,
Yeah that's great thanks. I remember reading about the Merc's frame change to the Fox. Thanks for all the great input! |
