I hope some other Torino junkies make some posts! I have a '75 Gran Torino Sport...one of 5126 made that year, and the last year for the Sport name. My parents bought it for my 15th Christmas, which was 17 years ago, so I've had the car for a while now. The folks signed it over to me in '99, so now it's LEGALLY mine! It was originally equipped with a 400, but that was replaced with a well-built 460 in '01....quarter-mile times dropped from a sad 17.20 @ 80 MPH to 14.04 @ 97 MPH...not bad for a car that weighs in at 4650 lbs with the driver and a full tank of gas! Other changes I've made are a 3.50 rear gear and a front swaybar from a '79 Thunderbird with poly bushings ...the difference in handling was definitely noticeable.
I love the car, and I think I'm pretty much done with mods. I'd LIKE to find a pair of buckets for it, so I could install a ratchet shifter. Oh, and I'd like to get it repainted Starsky-and-Hutch style, but black with a gold Starsky stripe. Should get some attention!
So who else out there has a Torino?

That sounds like a nice car. I also own a torino, it's a 74 police interceptor.
the mods I have done so far is to give it oversized brakes, front and rear.I Lowered the car 2" and installed heavier springs. I am still thinking about wheels, and paint. I also invested in a complete pst proformance bushing kit,as well as the closest thing that ford built to a four link rear on a stock car. the car already came with a 460 and c6, so I also am far from short on the hp. but I am also thinking about removing the stock motor for a 550 stroker. I would like to make the 10's without forced induction. So a change of gear, and a ratio change in the trany is the next step. these cars are great, but I have to agree... Need buckets.
I know of one site, kinda.. BlueOval, something. They are on ebay alot, I hope it is help they sell the buckets as well as the floor pans so everything is a clean install. I'm looking for a black interior for mine I am tring to get a black interior together so that I can take my tan out. any Ideas?? |

I have a '76 Station Wagan that is on standby for when My LTD Wagon is out of service. I call it "baby Blue" or my "little car" She could be a fine looking piece if I could stop te rust and get her painted. She has the bench seat, but I don't feel comfortable and was thinking of replacing them with the 60/40 leather seats from a '75 Marqis I canabalized for my "big car". She dose have a problem that bothers me, The instrument lights will not work unless a tail light bulb is burned out. |

Bob...I'm no electrican, but it sounds like you have a dead short in one of your taillight wires. Does it burn taillight bulbs on a regular basis?
Secondly...I don't know if a fullsize split-bench will fit into a midside car, but more power to you if they do!
