First, From 1989 to 1991 it is a Yamaha deigned and built all aluminum 3.0 liter DOHC V-6 offered only with a 5 speed. The 1992 - 1995 is Yamaha built Ford/Yamaha design all aluminum 3.2 liter DOHC V-6 tqhat was also offered as an ATX. Both of these developed 230hp and have 7000 RPM redlines, In 1996 - 1999 they went to a 235hp Yamaha built all aluminum DOHC V-8 designed again by both Ford/Yamaha also with a 7,000 RPM redline but available only in an ATX. These 3rd Gen models also came with Semi-Active-Ride-Control that adjusted the steering effort and suspension rebound (on all but the 99) rates, bigger brakes, premeium sound system and Power everything. Most were also equiped with leather, power sunroofs and CD players.
The V-8 was factory limited to 144 mph, most run in the 15's for the 1/4 and tip the scales at 3500 - 3600#
I personally like the V-8 Cause it's tone is so impressive for a Taurus and is pretty impressive performer considering it is a 4 door front wheel drive sedan.

The 93-95 SHOs with MTX were 3.0 litre engines. I believe the 3.2 was only available with the ATX. |

Strange as that seems, that is correct. Plenty of people have done the 3.2 swap though if they have the MTX since more ATX were made. |
