One of the terminals plugged into the new connector. Note the rubber barbs that keep it weather proof. On the loose black wire note the tang on the metal clip. That clicks into the connector to hold them in.

In this dandy shot you can see all three of the 8mm bolts holding the filter on and the dipstick still probing for ATF.

New drain plug and washer going in. I like to use the exact size and bolt as the oil pan, to keep the number of spares I need to carry to a minimum.

There's the large case Taurus 3rd generation 130 amp alternator in place. Note the adjustment bracket's slot has been widened enough that it now requires a larger washer.

My die grinder made short work of opening them up until they were plenty big enough to accept the Lincoln's manifold studs. A normal power drill would do the same thing, just takes more time.

As you can see there is an offset to match up with the stock muffler. I ran 2 1/4" all the way into a muffler with a 2 1/4" inlet and a 2" outlet (to match the tailpipe).

Now you can pull the side body bumper trim back and wedge a large screwdriver in, to allow enough access to get the plastic poppers out.

Two of the screws are accessed reasonably easily. This screw would have required the removal of the whole bumper cover.......or just a notch with a carpet knife, like I did. It's all miles underneath the cover and will never be seen, so I sliced away...

As you can see from the pic the adjustment slot in the bracket is about 1" too low for the 3G alternator's bolt hole.

I'd say we got weld penetration, wouldn't you ? Once I pulled out the old bolt I just ground the weld flat to the pan until smooth and shot that area with paint to prevent rust.
