I have a 1930 Ford with a 1972 windsor (block), new aluminum heads, fresh rebuild(about 50 miles), new water pump, new thermostat, walker radiator (checked by radiator shop) that is over heating. I am a converted chevy man, any of you ford guys have any ideas. The only clue is that it started overheating after a crane cam and lifter installation, which was just before the rebuild.
Walt
Is it overheating when cruising down the road or just idling? I wonder if the radiator is not getting enough air pushed through it. What type of fan are you running? |

Sounds like a nice motor, Just some questions about the problem.
Did you install a High Volume Water Pump or a High Pressure Water Pump ?.
If you did, you will need to slow the water down by using a washer or you can purchase a set of them ready made for this at any Speed Shop.
Make sure you check your timing too, this can cause problems too, Make sure you got all your spark plug wires on the right cylinders, crossing just two wires can cause over heating.
Did you drill holes or was that needed with the new heads ?.
Just some of the things that come to mind at the time.
