what are the differences between the 2001 police 4.6 and the one in a mustang gt? and is the interceptor aluminium block? I have the chance to buy a interceptor engine and tranny combo to retro into a 67 fairlane. |

There are no aluminum blocks for the P71s. It is just another one of the many myths about these cars.
The blocks are identical. The only difference is the intake. The CVs intake goes the driver's side fender while the Mustang's goes to the passenger side. I would definatley get the Mustang manifold and intake. There are many more aftermarket parts for it.
At least with the 2001 P71 motor, you are getting the PI (Performance Improved) heads. The Mustangs have had those heads since '99, I believe.
Oh, the P71 also gets an oil cooler.
