will a 2001 4.6 fit into a 67 fairlane? will a 289 oil pan bolt to the 4.6?

You may need to get rid of the shock towers for a SOHC; you WILL need to for a DOHC. These are some wide engines.

No, a 289 pan will not fit a modular motor. They have a deep-skirt block like an old Y-Block or FE.

Just install the whole frontend of a Mustang in that 67 Fairlane, then install that 4.6L.

On the new Mustangs that come with a 4.6L motor in them, Just unbolt the hole frontend and put it to the side.

On the 67 Fairlane I beleive you will need to do some cutting to get the frontend out, but once that is done, you should be able to put whole Frontend of the newer mustang right under it, then just reinstall the whole newer frontend - Bolted in, Just like on the mustang.
