I ahve an 1987 T-bird that's automatic.

can I swap A manual transmission into it (I know I'll have to do a few extras like cut a hole in the floorboard and whatnot)?

Would it be possible to swap a transmission from a similar year mustang or cougar?

any info on this would be helpful

yes the conversion is possible. but fair warning its a huge pain in the ass. And yes also you can use the tranny from a T-bird, Mustang, or Cougar as long as you can get them matched up. All modifications are possible for those with vision, desire, knowledge, and sometimes a buttload of money.

Yes you can, The hole is the least of your problems though.

Get a mustang Trans, then Cut your hole in the floor, get the pedal assembly out of the mustang too, take yours out and reinstall the mustangs pedal assembly, you will need to make a hole the same size as on the mustang for the cable that go's though the firewall too.

This is just some of the other things you will need to do.
