I have a Bronco -89 with a 302cui.
I wonder about bolt on chips and exhaustpipes...
I already have a K&N Filter charger and want more out of my stove...

I have a 2" body lift and wonder how big tires that will fit without any further remodeling...

Is it someone who has changed to an 7.3 l Diesel? Is it hard to do and was it ever any Broncos made with a Dieselengine?
Bronco XLT -89

You can squeeze 35"s on there , but you will rub a little you may even have to do a little trimming on the inner fenders . As far as more hp you can go MSD Offroad , Full exhaust , If you have a little knowlegde and money go with some head work also . Anyfurther and your talking $$$$ .
94 Bronco , 351 W , 18" Lift , 46" Tires , 6-12" Subs , Too much more

Throw a new exhaust system at that 302 and it'll help wake up your Bronco. I would investigate other options like doing some work on the heads, throttle body, and the topend of the motor rather than throwing a few hundred dollars at a chip.

How many miles are on the engine?

The most bang for your buck is going to come from your heads. Increase the amount of airflow and power will come. Try for some oversized valves and and a good valve job. Keep in mind though. The more flow you create, the more fuel it takes to mix with the air. Your fuel mileage will suffer. On the not to extreme side of things, Go with a coil. I've heard that MSD makes some good ones. Put one of those on and widen the gap on your plugs. This one creates power and actually helps your gas mileage. Also I swear by Taylor Spiro Pro wires as much as I do the K&N air filters. Those wires are as good as it gets without going to a solid core wire.

It is 150000km, on the engine and the rest of my bronco, as in europe we use km...
I don´t know what that is in miles...?

Try an MSD ignition system, coil and distributor, and then exhaust. I have the MSD system on my Bronco. I love it. You get more horses, and it burns cleaner also.

Like all the Mustangs out there, 5.0L.
I would take the heads off, you will see some knobs in the passage way of the EXH., you will need to port them out, I found a fine stone worked better than cutting blades - leaves groves...etc.

After doing that I would purchase some long tube headers with O2 Bungs installed in them already or have some welded - depends on the EXH. you get and from who.

Then port match them to you new heads EXH.

You will want to port match the intake too - what comes in must go out, get the FLOW.

This is what all the (Big Kids)want me to do now , then they add NOS W/Button or have me supercharge it later.

Got lots of power and go then.

Oops

I agree about them Taylors the best thing I ever did was add them.

Now for the Valves - you are right - I would increase them to 1.94 Int. and 1.60 EXH. but this will cost some money at a machine shop and you can purchase heads after market almost as cheap (Shock Heads that is).

I also forgot one thing, on the above reply, you can do that porting on the intake and the EXH. of the head with out taking the heads off, just use a small amount of rags or paper to plug the holes before you start grinding (I take all the heads off that I work on and replace the head gaskets with [Loc Wire gaskets, Felpro], why because I O-Ring the block still in the vehicle, Works great).

Now you will need to purchase, Int. Gaskets, EXH. Gaskets and Header Gaskets.

Are you guys serious about recommending an MSD ign?? I have never, ever seen any proof that a MSD or Jacobs or anything is any better than a late-model stock Ford coil and ignition. Figure the Ford coil will fire a .065 gap at 5000rpm, that's more than good enough for a Bronco motor. If we were talking a points ign on an Early Bronco 289 or something, you might have an argument, but I just don't see the cost offsetting (any) gains for that motor.

Shawn,

I would have to agree. On an otherwise stock motor, you'd be better off saving your money for real performance upgrades than going with an aftermarket ignition. I installed an MSD in my '91 Bronco and didn't notice any performance increase. If you're installing a new aftermarket distributor and/or building up the rest of the motor, then I would definitely go with aftermarket.
