Bronco bretheren,

Long time reader but first time poster. Thought I'd show some pics and give some info about my Bronco.

Here goes,

Bought it for $2,500 + TT&L off eBay, got the guy to end the auction early. I could tell by pics and description it was easily worth $6-8K depending on the market and told the guy that. He said he didn't care he wanted to get rid of it so I offered to buy it right then and there even though I was looking for an FJ40 Landruiser.

It was owned by his recently deceased father, the father had dozens of cars in his collection including a 78' Bronco restored to factory original condition. It was obvious he didn't know what his dad had but he had a lot of his dad's vehicles to sell.

It had the following when I purchased it:

152K original miles, less than 2K miles on everything else that was rebuilt or replaced. Paint was in bad shape, lots of dings, dents, scrapes and fading and the doors were misaligned. I gave it a professional detailing as well. Oil and tranny fluid were perfect.

Restored, rebuilt and rustfree 1984 Bronco XLT with 351W, Edelbrock 4 BBL carb and intake manifold, Crane cam, Hedmann headers, Mallory ignition, NP208, C6 A/T, Dana 44 solid axle, Ford 9" rear, 8" lift kit, 35x12.5 Wild Country's, 15x10 Modern sawblade aluminum rims, WARN hubs, WARN full-size winch bumper and nerf bars.

As well as new carpet, carpet pad, door panels, rear panels, dashboard, dash bezel, radio knobs, original mint factory front and rear bench seats, new wiper motors, new power lock motors, door window motors, entire brake system (rotors-calipers-master cylinder), U-joints, ball joints, heater core, steering box and shaft, voltometer-oil pressure-vacuum-temp guage pod, new passenger door, digital clock, weather stripping, thermostat, fuel filter, wiper blades, pedals, spark plugs, air filter, regulator, solenoid, battery, belts, bushings, hoses, rotor, vacuum lines, torque converter, new wiper and headlight switch assemblies, pcv valves, blower motor (No A/C but guts are there), rod ends, and hub bearings.

I was given a manilla file folder at the time of purchase full of all receipts ($11K) for all the parts and work performed. It also had all the warranty papers for the tranny, transfer case, brake work, alignment work and new tires. In the glove box were the registration/insurance papers for the prior 2 owners.

I performed a Carfax check on it before I bought it and it was clear, spent it's whole life in Oregon. The undercarriage and frame are mint. I'm the fourth owner, can't say I'll be the last yet. I also sent off for the build sheet/history from Ford and have that.

I paid $1K for shipping and then added the following:

New dual exhaust $385
Radius arm bushing kit installed $103
Replaced ignition switch, shift lever grommet and turn signal cam. $195
New black and silver paint job, red pinstripe and body work $1,500
Herculined inside tailgate, WARN winch bumper, rear bumper, spare tire carrier and nerf bars myself $110
New heavy duty radiator and tranny cooler $275
New spare tire (Wild Country 35x12.5) and rim (Eagle aluminum 15x10) $300
New Grant steering wheel $60
New floormats $55
New door strikers $20
New DVD/CD/MP3 player $500
New Blaupunkt speakers (6.5" and 6x $120
New foglights $70
Sirius satellite radio $100
Custom cut diamondplate panel for tailgate $45 (Not installed yet)

The Bronco was basically restored with the exception of the paint and body work, that was the last thing to be restored before the untimely death of the previous owner. I wasn't in the market for a Bronco at the time but when I saw this auction I simply could not pass it up. I was looking at FJ40 Landcruisers and Scouts.

Even the wife said she'd slap me if I passed it up. I have roughly $7K in it with $14K in receipts. I get offers to sell it all the time and stares everyday. It is a daily driver that I have a blast with rockcrawling on our ranch. I live in a big Jeep town/region so it's nice to stick out not blend in. Yeah all the Jeep owners stare too.

It will do 75-80 on the highway no problem, it has a ton of peddle left at those speeds but I'm not about to go any faster.

Some eBay sellers are desperate for money and some simply don't need it as was the case in my auction. I got very lucky, but there are deals like that EVERYDAY on eBay, you just have to look hard and be willing/able to pull the trigger. It always helps to find sellers willing to end the auction early to beat the competition and catching Buy It Now auctions in the wee hours of the morning.

Found this website after I bought it, this site and the members are the best.

Steve

I'll definitely be browsing those pics!!! Sounds like you got a really sweet deal, too!! I know that I've spent over$10K restoring my 84 Bronco, and it's taken over 2 years!! Be sure to check out the other Bronco forums, like FullSizeBronco.com and your regional chapter of 2BigBroncos.org!!!

Thanks. Yeah I think I got a good deal, they had another one on eBay a month after I bought this one, I almost bought it too. It actually looked better than mine and was only $500 more than I paid for mine.

I'll have more pics to add later. I checked out the other sites you mentioned.
