Hi all ! New to this site. Can anybody direct me to any posts or threads that define which clusters fit what and why and interchangability of psom's between different years and fuel types. Trying to get some definite answers about these things.
Unfortunately searching the web seems to give more contradictions than solid answers and I just don't like guessing based on other people just repeating what someone else said, if you know what I mean. |

This is what I think might be true based on what I have been led to believe (so far). If anybody can verify or correct any of these things, I would appreciate it. It's based on 92 to 96 F-series and Bronco. 97 refers to F250, 350.
1 - All the clusters interchange but there are wiring differences that require pin changes to the harness plug if you vary from 92 to 93, 94 to 95, 96 to 97.
2 - All the PSOM's fit all the trucks but the earlier ones could be overly sensitive to tone ring variations and VSS signal fluctuations.
3 - A PSOM from a gas truck will work in a diesel and vice versa.
4 - Gas and diesel clusters interchange but the fuel gauge and tach are specific to the fuel type.
5 - The year of the cluster can be determined by checking the first 2 letters of the part # on the back (F2 - 92, F3 - 93, etc.)
6 - The odometer mileage is stored on the card attached to the PSOM.
7 - A V8 tach cluster will work with a 6 cylinder.
As I said, this is what I think based on everything I have been able to find. If anyone is able to confirm or correct any of those statements, I would appreciate it. And if you have anything to add, that would be good too. |
