Shocks

I plan on replacing the front shocks on my 2000 CVPI.

I've heard I have to remove the front springs, others said they slide out the bottom A arm. So which is it?

Most of the time the front shock and spring is an assembly, and can be removed (slid) past the lower "A" arm. To change out the shock, the spring must be compressed and held while switching out the shock, and decompressing the spring (this is just a quick explanation).

Getting the assembly out is do-able, but to switch out the shock, I would to take to a person/shop that has the equipment to do it. It's worth what they charge...believe me.

However, I did it by myself in my garage. Top nuts were rusted shut, so I pulled out my Dremel tool with a cut off blade, cut the bottom of the nut and the shocks slid out the bottom A arm. Replaced both front shocks, all within an hour. Saved a ton of $$$.

I had to use the old rubber bushings because the ones that came with the new shocks were different.
