Can I put a 2004 Crown Vic alternator in a 2004 Grand Marquis if I spice the 3- wire plug connections?

I'll answer my own question. Yes and no. The plugs are different and the top bracket holes don't line up, but if you splice the wires to the Crown Vic plug (color for color) and use a rat tail file to groove out the bracket so the driver's side alternator hole is accessible and use a fender washer over it , it will work. If you're real dedicated you could drill a hole for the passenger side alternator top mounting bolt in the bracket to bolt it down, but I think one bolt will suffice.
