just bought a 2006 cvpi with 114000 miles 7200 idle hrs. I know kinda high. it runs and drives amazing. only issue is sometimes when I start the car it doesn't turn over right away. I can hear the fuel pump prime everytime. but it does it only when the car hasn't been running for hours or at least a day it takes a couple tries for it to start. if I go to a store and come back out it starts up, right away no hesitation. idles good just the starting. is it the relay or starter motor? could it be the ignition cylinder? it seems to only do it if the car has been sitting. I just bought it 2 days ago and im pretty sure its been sitting since july. it also has only gone 400miles since last November. I think that's when it was decommissioned. I hooked it up to my computer and there was no codes. any help would be grateful |

It could be that it's having trouble getting pressure to the fuel rail on the first start of the day, pump could be weak.
There is a fuel pressure sensor on the rail that can go bad and the pump can go, it's not the kind of issue to just throw parts at though.
Did the battery come with the car and is the first start a slow start(like the battery is struggling to spin the starter)?
Are there any codes? |

i'm having trouble understanding exactly what you mean by wont start ...but it sound like your starter solenoid.....
do you turn the key and here nothing / /.or do you turn the key and hear only a loud click../ or do you turn the key and hear grinding ... ?.do some goog-l-ing and see exactly how the starter and solenoid and flywheel gear work together and i think you'll figure out your problem.
again sounds like the solenoid ...is sticking................. next time it does this whack the solenoid/starter and you may see it starts right up

yea the battery came with it. there are no codes I checked. its not a slow start. battery is strong. I keep thinking its the starter getting stuck. I don't want to throw parts at it. that's what I did to my 92 mustang 5.0. it just seems like its not getting that spark to ignite. it cranks good like its about to start but doesn't. I have to try a couple times. but wants it start and I drive the car and turn it off and back on when I run errands, I never have a problem. it starts right up without hesitation. I tried googling the problem . no help. that's why I came here. |

Dude. I've worked on cars before. I know there is no magic fix. I always do all the work myself regardless of how big the job is. Back to my topic....... The car will start every time without hesitation when I turn the car on and wait about 10sec then start it. So I'm assuming overnight or long periods of time it losses fuel pressure. So it's a bad fuel pump correct? I can hear the pump prime of course cause the car starts. But sometimes it makes a funny noise. So I'm assuming it's on it's way out. |

can you explain what wont start means to you ? does the engine crank? does the starter engage? does it just spin ? does it do nothing at all?..does the engine just spin without running ? wont start is pretty vague ? you have a fuel pressure sensor that would tell you.if you have no fuel pressure ...why dont you replace the fuel filter takes about 15 min and cost ten bux....or ...since you allways do the work yourself " no matter how Big the Job" ....tyou colud always just go ahead and replace the fuel pump.......
