My husband and I are in the market for a Grand Marquis or a Crown Vic. We're getting older and have driven a Toyota Corolla for 14 years. We owe it to ourselves. There's a 2011 Grand Marquis with 44K miles for sale from a dealer, and they want $13,400 for it. It's had 2 owners, one private, one a rental agency. I haven't looked at the car yet, but got the carfax report and there\\'s nothing remarkable in it (if you can trust those reports).

I've only bought cars from private parties, except once from Enterprise where they are all certified pre-owned. Though I'm a lady, I'm a bit of a gearhead (owned both a 60s Ford+ 60s Mercury), I just haven't bought a car off an independent used car lot ever. Or an American car from this century. Any tips? What is important to look for on these cars? And does that seem like a decent price?

Thanks for any info!

They run for ever if you keep up on maintenance with them so the 44k is awesome. Past that the platform is pretty reliable without much needed to keep them happy. That price is in line with what I would pay here in Utah for the same car so it would just depend on your local market.

Thanks for the reply! I didn't have my notifications set up, so the thanks are a little late, but appreciate it.
I looked at the car and it was perfect, so we bought it. I am LOVING it. Purrs like a kitten (a fast kitten). And so comfortable. Thanks for the tip on the maintenance. Will keep up with it.
